I believe that my adequacy concerns as stated in my memo to
you dated June 27, 1996 have been addressed. From their response,
I understand that they have completed or will perform the
following:
• They are currently permitted to discharge to the North Fork
Gunnison River and are capable of handling 500 gpm in the
event of a serious mine inflow situation.
• They will monitor Thompson Creek at a point upgradient from
the North Fork Gunnison River and will use data collected in
1996 as baseline to determine future effects if any.
• They have offered to install one monitoring well within the
lease modification area, we should follow up on this and
ensure that the monitoring well is installed at a proper depth
and location.
• A spring and seep survey has been performed for the lease
modification area.
The above mentioned items if implemented, will satisfy my adequacy
concerns regarding the hydrogeology of the site.
c: David Berry
