The purpose of and need for drilling m is to help <br />asonitar sad mitigate ttndergrottnd conditions associated with a thermal event within <br />uadsrgtvtmd portions of the West Elk Mice. The proposed drill site lies on coal lease <br />COC-56447, sad is located in Township 13 S, Range 90 west, 6`a principal raeridiaa, in <br />Section 26 in Citmniaon County, Colorado. Tho area proposed for drilling is located <br />approximately 600' south of methane drainage wall 2¢01102103 oa West Flatiron. The ' <br />target is 24 headgate Dross-cute 37 & 3 S, entry 2. The surface is National Forest System <br />lands admiaiatered by rho Gtaad Mesa, Uaeompahgc, and c~uaaiaon National >; orest, <br />Paoaia Ranger District. <br />The leads ctmeatly.proposed for a well pad and drilling lie within the project aces. that <br />was previously a~aalyzed is the Coat Methane Drainage Project, Parfet 16-2d <br />xnviroameatel Assessment (1"sA), Decision Notice (DI+i) and FYading of No 5igaifleant <br />Impact (F0~1SI), May 31, 2002. <br />'I'ha proposal to drill ooneiata of up to 2 drill holes.ftom ono (1) new well pad (a <br />maximtun 1.0 acres, see map). Access the proposed pad~site would be threup~t existing <br />made. Drill holes world be approximately T' diameter and about 2500' deep.
