Based on our review, additional information is needed
before a decision can be made regarding the revision.
Specific design information and/or illustrations for the oil
skimmers at spillway entrances, and for the spillway gates need to
be submitted to the Division.
The Division would recommend that the three bend gate configuration
at the primary spillway be abandoned due to the increased
possibilities of fouling and clogging created at each bend. The
Division would propose that the original primary spillway be sealed
and a new inlet installed at the base of the elbow of the emergency
spillway. Such a configuration would require just one bend to join
the six inch (primary spillway) horizontal pipe with its riser to
the desired discharge elevation.
As of this date, the Division has not yet received proof of
publication from Powderhorn for the proposed technical revision.
Please submit such proof as soon as it is available.
If you have any questions, or are in need of additional
information, please call me.
Sincerely,
Susan L. Morrison
Physical Scientist
cc: Larry Routten, MLRD
