EXHIBIT G
Water Information
The 20-acre BLM leased addition to the Trout Creek Pit will not affect groundwater
systems. Well depth in the azea ranges from 42' - 58' in depth. No water will be used
for the mining operations. Current and past mining operations that have exposed the
original topsoil at depths up to 20 ft have not encountered ground water. The material
extraction depth will be approximately 7-15 ft. This will meet both the States 3 ft
recommendations and Chaffee Counties 25 ft. Please see attached photos taken in 2004
regazding material depth. (Exhibit G- I)
Surface waters affected will be the Trout Creek winter waters. Mr. Moltz releases water
from the reservoir in winter months. This water eventually percolates back into the
ground. The creation of a detention basin will allow the water to infiltrate into the
ground before damage to the fields can occur. A meeting held with Dave Kelly, Bill
Tyner, Mike Graber and Bruce Smith from the Division II Water District met on site June
15, 2006 concluded that mining activities as described would not affect any water rights.
The report supplied to the Bureau of Land Management states that no change to the
consumptive use of the water therefore there would be no water rights affected. Mr.
Tyner and Mr. Graber (Water Division 2) provided a letter to the BLM regazding this
proposal, which provided their concurrence with the proposal. (Exhibit G-II)
Please find attached the FEMA flood plain maps.(Exhibit G- III) The BLM amendment
acreage is located outside of the 500-year flood plain. The Trout Creek Pit is adjacent to
the Trout Creek Dam. Please find attached the Flood Plain Study. (Exhibit G- I~
