Minutes, June 24-25, 19~
DRAT
Subject To Board Approval
operators also submitted a map indicating all downgradient monitor
wells for the tailings impoundment, including water quality sampling
data from the previous year. The plan also included a water level and
water quality monitoring scheme for the current monitor wells, ponds,
adits and underground workings which are areas that the Division will
monitor closely, a: least for the first year.
Staff said the operators submitted a technical revision which
readjusted the boundaries of the permit, reducing the area around the
tailings impoundments.
Staff said that at this point the Division is satisfied with the
progress made by the operators, including the cooperation between them,
in mitigating the problems on-site. A bond recalculation will be
completed in July of 1992. Staff said the Division will inspect the
site prior the start-up of the mill to ensure that everything is
functioning properly.
14. Update Board on status of corrective
actions associated with NOV M-92-029 for failure to submit or confirm
permitted water pumping and utilization plan (continued from the May
1992 Board Meeting>.
Regarding corrective actions, Staff said a statement signed by both
operators and describing the water management system in detail, was
submitted. Staff said the water management system included in the
original permit was updated to provide additional safeguard measures to
help prevent any future water discharge.
Staff said the plan submitted by the operators is adequate and covers
all of the Division's concerns. Staff said the permit boundaries will
be adjusted through a technical revision and that this will be done
during the installation of the pumping station and monitor wells.
Staff said the Division is satisfied with the mitigation plans
submitted and feel that the Division's concerns have been addressed.
