I discussed
~+ith the operator the outlet of the haul road drainage ditch along the west ridge haul
road at culvert C-1. Although significant erosion of the side slope at this point has
occured, the side slope is now fairly stable since erosion has now e.rposed stable, larger
size rock, It was decided that it was impractical to disturb the outslope furtr~er.
tJe will watch the condition of this site closely next Spring.
It was noted in the Last report *_hat the berm along the "Goat Trail" needed to
be reestablished in spots. G•layne said this had been done, but a visual insoect_'onty
myself was not possible because of snow, This will be checked next inspection, ?`
weather permits.
The Division agreed that gullies that had formed in a few places on the outslope
of the "Goat Trail" could not be feasibly corrected.
4.04 Svttort Facilities
A visual inspection of the conveyor revealed that aZ1 metal stlices in the belt
have been removed and vulcanized. However, coal fines mntinve to spill from the under-
side of the belt at points where the belt rollers contact the underside of t.ie belt.
The operator must develop a plan to prevent additional contributions of coal fines
onto the hi11s1ope under the conveyor.
4.05 Hudroloaic Balance
The Sti 1Z Pre •rention Control and Countermeasure Plans required under the VP DES
permit have been implemented at the loadout. The site is now designed such that any
spills can be containe3 to prevent discharge into Oak Creek.
4.06 Tots oil
Topsoil salvaging in o-lest Ridge was adequate to Zast until next Spring. "!o
problems were identified.
4.14 BacY.filZina and Grading
Grading was being done on spoil ridges in Pest Ridge to shorten the access ramp
into the pit.
4.15 Reve getati on
The sediment ponds and adjacent areas at the loadout have been seeded this Fall.
