Exhibit E •
with increased slopes taken into account. Final approval of reclamation will be granted
by the Colorado Department of Natural Resources after reporting and inspection.
Original vegetation cover is documented by photography in late 1998 and early 1999
on the site.
The seed mixes to be used (Exhibit J) have been approved by the Natural Resources
Conservation Service, local Conservation District, and Division of Minerals and
Geology for reclamation of mined lands in the vicinity, and were recommended by the
District Conservationist.
As there will be an area approximately 150 feet wide along the creek which is not
disturbed by mining, this will provide a source of seed for natural propagation of
species native to the area which are not included in the seed mix, including hydrophilic
species such as willows which are found as specimens on the site.
Weeds will be monitored and weed control methods employed when necessary.
Prohibited noxious weeds veil{ be controlled.
STOCKPILE AND OTHER AREAS
Stockpile areas will be mined and then reclaimed and revegetated in the same way as
other mined areas. Where subsoil was left at the time of construction, the areas will be
ripped (scarified) prior to replacement of topsoil and revegetation. Where topsoil is
removed from stockpile areas, some overburden may be left and blended into place,
then new topsoil applied and the area revegetated. Some overburden and amended
topsoil may also be used to repair other erosion present on the site before mining
activities were conducted, provided that adequate materials will still be available to
meet reclamation requirements after mining of the site itself.
The access road existed prior to mining and will be reestablished in approximately the
same alignment during reclamation and left in place. The office area, including pre-
existing concrete and gravel areas, will be left in approximately the same condition as
exists prior to mining. Where necessary, areas of compacted soil will be scarified, soil
amended, and seeded with the same seed mix as mined areas.
CONTOURS AFTER RECLAMATION
Final contours of the reclaimed area will vary from near original elevations (pre-mining)
to as much as forty feet below original grade where necessary to provide drainage
patterns similar to the original and as overburden is available. It is not anticipated that
there will be any areas where the maximum post-reclamation slope of 1V:3H is
exceeded to match original or existing slopes. As backfill material is available, a slope
gentler than 1V:3H will be established, especially on the valley floor.
There will be no significant change in drainage basins. Evidence exists (aerial
photographs and wetlands delineation report) of previous changes in the channel of
Eight Mile Creek across the valley floor, and the widening of the valley floor should
have no impact on downstream flows or drainage patterns.
