NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION
The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology proposes to approve Permit Renewal Application No. 3
(RN-3), submitted by Colowyo Coal Company L.P. for a coal mining permit at the Colowyo Coal Mine
(Permit No. C-81-019). The proposed renewal will allow for continued mining and/or reclamation
operations at the site.
The Colowyo Coal Mine is located in Moffat County, approximately 28 miles south of Craig. Coal interest
at this surface mine is federal, state and private, and the surface to be affected is federal, state and private
land. Persons with an interest that may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may request
a formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Board on the proposed decision. Such request must
be made within thirty (30) days of the initial publication of this notice, must be in writing, and must state
with reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and the objections to the proposed decision.
