Wheeler and Assoc., Inc.
Water Resources Engineers
January 23, 2006
Mr. Tim Haynes
Climax Molybdenum Company, Henderson Mill
19302 County Road 3
Parshall, CO 80468
Re: #1333.15 Henderson Pump Barge
Dear Tim:
The Millwater Barge System that has recently been constructed at the Henderson
Mill consists primarily of a floating pump barge and a discharge pipeline that conveys
process water from the tailing pond to East Branch Reservoir. W. W. Wheeler and
Associates, Inc. and its sub-consultants performed the design of the pipeline, power
distribution line, and land based civil and electrical facilities associated with the pumping
system. The barge itself was designed and fabricated by Chamco Industries in
accordance with a performance specification and supplied as a complete assembly.
Construction of the Henderson Millwater Barge System is virtually complete and the start-
up, testing, and de-bugging process is set to begin.
The purpose of this letter is to state that the system has been constructed in
general conformance to the design plans and specifications. This statement is based in
part on information that has been provided by others. As with any project, there were
several clarifications, modifications, and adjustments to the design that were made during
the fabrication and construction process. However, these modifications did not change the
purpose or intent of the original design.
The start-up and testing process should identify any operational problems or
issues associated with the system. We recommend that the existing decant pump system
not be abandoned until it is proven that the barge pumping system is operating properly.
37110 South Inca Street Englewood, Cnloradc 66110 Phnne (303) 761-4130 Fax (303) 761-282
