• III I II I III II IIII III ~ ~~~~ ~~/~/
RECEtVEI~
SEP 191085
MINED LANO
RECLAMI-TION DIVISION
Ms. Candace Thompson
Hydrologist
Mined Land Reclamation
1313 Sherman Street, Room 423
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Minor Revision to Permit C-025-81
Dear Ms. Thompson:
SNOWMASS COAL COMPANY
Heine ONice: P.O. Box 980
Carbontlaie. Coioratlo 87623
1303) 963-3440
September 16, 1985
Snowmass Coal Company hereby requests a minor revision to
Permit C-025-81 in accordance with Section 2.08.4 (1)(f) of the
regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board of Coal
Mining.
With this application, Snowmass Coal Company proposes to remove
culverts C-7 and C-6 as shown and located on the enclosed permit map
D-4-7.
The rational used to justify the removal of these culverts is
as follows:
1. Since the culverts were put in, they have proven to be a
constant maintenance problem. The road cut above these
culverts is constantly weathering away and allowing rock
and sediment to fall into the collection ditch. Subsequently,
the culverts are always plugged up.
2. The area of diversion for these culverts is approximately
1.5 acres. Also, the road where these culverts are located
is pitched and bearmed in such a way that the water would
naturally flow into collection Ditch D-1. Therefore, it is
apparent that the culverts are not necessary.
If you have any questions or comments concerning this request,
please feel free to contact me here at the mine office.
Sincerely,
Scott Jones
Environmental Engineer
SJ:mgc
Enclosure
