We are most appre-
ciative of this opportunity.
The Gumaer Placer (140 acres) contiguous to and east of the
Alma Placer has had a number of physical inter-relationships
with the Alma Placer. Differ_sn*_ial topographic features and
geology have at various times in the very long history of the
two properties tended to create issues of simple access to the
Gumaer to become somewhat complicated as mining activity, pri-
marily at the Alma Placer, either advanced or retreated. The
Gumaer, being the smaller property, was also locked-in between
the behemoth Alma Placer and a very large hillside created the
inevitablg issue of access.
Today, new pressures of impending real estate development will
only exacerbate access issues to the Gumaer co-incident with
the old and familiar activities of mining/reclamation, water
sourcing and the impending real property development with its
necessary property lines and fences and formally platted land
parcels.
The owners of the Gumaer Placer have studied the Alma Placer's
submittal to the Board. The submittal is a bold and a good
plan with time notwithstanding in that the Gumaer will remain
fully integrated, developmentally, with the Alma.
This communication to the Board is for the purpose of expressing
this owner's thoughts on three particular issues surrounding
both properties at this time and for the near future in that
decisions made today will profoundly affect actions tomorrow
in the attempted seamless transition from an essentially des-
tructive (mining) activity to an essentially constructive ac-
tivity - real estate development.
