The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118,
Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on August 14, 2006, an application to renew an existing permit to conduct
coo! mining operations at the Seneca 11 Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment
periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of filing.
Seneca Coal Company proposes to continue Surface coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land located approximately 9
miles Southeast of Hayden, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows;
TSN, R87W; All of Sections 1, 2 and 12; Portions of Sections 3, I I and 13
T6N, R87W; Portions of Sections 27, 34, 35 and 36
TSN, R86 W; Portions of Sections 6 and 7.
The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Milner and Mount Harris.
Seneca Coal Company has submitted an application for successive renewal of a valid existing permit to conduct mining and
reclamation activities in Colorado. This application does not include extensions of the permit area or any new activity within
the permit area. No additional disturbance is requested for the permit area. This Permit Renewal extends the permit term for
another 5 years [o February 17, 2012.
A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the Hayden Public Library, P.O. Box 1813, Hayden, CO
81639, and at the Division office. For additional information, to provide written comments, or request an informal conference,
