Cattany <br />Colorado Department of Health Division DIreCIOr <br />Water Quality Control Division Permit Section Natural Resource Trustee <br />4300 Cherry Creek Drive South <br />Denver, CO 80222-1530 <br />Re: Seneca 11 Mine (Permit No. C-1980-005) <br />Permit Renewal Application No. 5 (RN-5) <br />Dear Ms. Kieler: <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section I I$ <br />Pazagraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on August 14, 2006, an application to renew an existing permit to conduct <br />coal mining operations at the Seneca II Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment <br />periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br />Seneca Coal Company proposes [o continue Surface coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land located approximately 9 <br />miles Southeast of Hayden, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />TSN, R87 W; All of Sections I, 2 and 12; Portions of Sections 3, I I and 13 <br />T6N, R87 W; Portions of Sections 27, 34, 35 and 36 <br />TSN, R86 W; Portions of Sections 6 and 7. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Milner and Mount Harris. <br />Seneca Coal Company has submitted an application for successive renewal of a valid existing permit to conduct mining and <br />reclamation activities in Colorado. This application does not include extensions of the permit area or any new activity within <br />the permit area. No additional disturbance is requested for the permit area. This Permit Renewal extends the permit term for <br />another 5 years to February 17, 201 Z. <br />A copy of [he renewal application is available for public inspection at the Hayden Public Library, P.O. Box 1813, Hayden, CO <br />81639, and at the Division office.
