Cottony <br />Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, <br />Section 1 18, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on August 14, 2006, an application to renew an <br />existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the Seneca II Mine was considered complete for the purposes <br />of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the <br />Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br />Seneca Coal Company proposes to continue Surface coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land located <br />approximately 9 miles Southeast of Hayden, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />TSN, R87W; All of Sections 1, 2 and 12; Portions of Sections 3, I I and 13 <br />T6N, R87W; Portions of Sections 27, 34, 35 and 36 <br />TSN, R86W; Portions of Sections 6 and 7. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Mount Harris. <br />Seneca Coal Company has submitted an application for successive renewal of a valid existing permit to conduct <br />mining and reclamation activities in Colorado. This application does slot include extensions of the permit area or <br />any new activity within the permit area. This Permit Renewal extends the permit term for another 5 years to <br />February 17, 2012. <br />No additional surface disturbance is proposed as a result of this revision application. As a result, the Division does <br />not anticipate additional impacts to wildlife. <br />The applicant is required to publish notice in the Steamboat Pilot that this permit renewal application has been <br />deemed complete. At the time of publication of this notice, the applicant is additionally required to place a copy of <br />[his application at the Hayden Public Library, P.O. Box 1813, Hayden, CO 81639, and at the Division office.
