Gunnison No. 1 Mine, CMLRD
Permit No. C-007-80
Dear Susan:
Please find enclosed three (3) copies of a Technical
Revision to reduce the hydrology monitoring at Mt.
Gunnison No. 1 Mine.
The revision is set up to be inserted in Volume 1 of
the Mt. Gunnison No. 1 Mine Mining and Reclamation
Plan, pages 4-62 to 4-72c. Table 2.8.2.Y is to be
inserted on Page 2-481 of Volume 1. Exhibit 2.8.1.C
Revised is to be inserted in Volume 3 after Exhibit
2.8.1.C. Please keep 2.8.1.C (original) as all well
locations are still valid. Exhibits 3.4.4.B.2 and
3.4.4.B.3 are to be inserted in Volume 4 after
Exhibit 3.4.4.B.1. Also enclosed is a new Table of
Contents with all recent updates to be inserted in
Volume 1.
The reduction in hydrology monitoring is proposed, as
we discussed with CMLRD in October of 1986, for a
variety of reasons as follows:
o There is more than adequate baseline data (up
to nine (9) years) available to assess
current and future potential mining impacts.
o Economic conditions in the coal markets have
dictated a much lower that predicted
production tonnage from the Mt. Gunnison
Mine.
o At lower production rates it is not
economically feasible to continue to collect
baseline data for areas that will not be
mined in the current 5 year permit term, and
longer.
~~I II~II~I~I~~~I~ II~
~~, s- ~-
~~~ V~~
APR 21 ~98vr
~?ECLgMATION p~~S10N
AMCO-6204
