Long <br /> Division Director <br />Re: Munger Canyon Mine (Permit No. C-1981-020) <br />Permit Renewal Application No. 4 (RN-4) <br />Deaz Mr. Miller: <br />We have received your application to renew your permit to conduct coal mining in Colorado. Our initial review <br />indicates that all preliminary items required by the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, <br />Section 34-33-101 et seq., C.R.S., have been submitted. Thus, your renewal application has been considered <br />complete for the purposes of filing as of May 9, 2002. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and <br />the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />Unless notification to the contrary accompanies this letter, the proposed newspaper advertisement submitted with <br />the application has been found to be satisfactory, with one exception. Please amend the final paragraph of the <br />notice (Paragraph 5) as follows: <br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the <br />Mesa County Clerk and Recorder's Office, 549 Rood Avenue, Grand Junction, <br />Colorado. A copy of the approved permit application document, as well as <br />the renewal application, is available at the Denver dnd Gland Junction <br />offices of the Division of Minerals and Geology [Room 215, 1313 Sherman St., <br />Denver CO 80203, (303) 866-3567; and 101 South 3Ltl, Suite 301, Grand <br />Junction, CO 81501, (970) 242-5025]. Written comments, objections, or a <br />request for an informal conference on the proposed permit renewal may be <br />submitted to the Division of Minerals and Geology, Denver or Grand Junction <br />offices, and must be received by the Division within 30 days after the final <br />publication of this notice. Phone inquiries should be directed to the Grand <br />Junction office. <br />You should commence publication of this advertisement as specified in Rule 2.07.3(2) of the Regulations. Proof <br />of the publication of the advertisement must be filed with the Division no later than four weeks after the last <br />publication date. <br />Coincident with the initial publication, a copy of the renewal application, less confidential items, must be filed for <br />public inspection with the appropriate public office as specified by you in the notice. Any subsequent changes or <br />additions to the application must also be made in this copy, at the same time it is submitted to the Division. <br />Finally, our records indicate that the correct designation for this renewal is RN-04, rather than RN-O5. <br />Please submit an amended page 1 of the renewal application form to the Division and for filing with the <br />Mesa County Clerk and Recorder. Please include with the amended page 1, proof that a copy of the <br />renewal application was provided to the BLM, Grand Junction Resource Area Office. <br />The Division is cun•ently reviewing your renewal application to determine whether the items you have submitted <br />
