<br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, Paragraph
<br />3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on March 23, 1998, an application to renew an existing permit [o conduct coal mining
<br />operations at [he Sanborn Creek Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods
<br />as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing.
<br />The applicant proposes to continue underground coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land just north of Somerset.
<br />The permit area is further described as follows:
<br />Portions of Section 31, Township 12 South. Range 90 West;
<br />Portions of Sections 34, 35 and 36, Township 12 South, Range 91 West:
<br />Portions of Sections I, 2, 3, 4, 5, all of 6 and 7, Portions North of the North Fork of the Gunnison River in Sections 8, 9, 10,
<br />portions of Sections 1 I, 12, and 17, Township 13 South, Range 90 Wes[;
<br />Portions of Sections I-3, I 1-13. Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M.
<br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Bowie and Somerset.
<br />Your comments and concerns relating to the adequacy of fish and wildlife resources information, [he fish and wildlife plan,
<br />and the reclamation plan as i[ relates to fish and wildlife considerations, including potential impacts to threatened or endangered
<br />species, are requested. If wildlife habitat is [he proposed postmining land use, we request your evaluation of proposed woody
<br />plant stocking levels, planting artangemenis, and methods for mitigation ofpotential adverse impacts.
<br />In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted to the Division of Minerals and
<br />Geology al the above address by May 22, 1998. It no comments are received by this date, we will proceed on the assumption
<br />that your agency has no concerns with or objections to the applicant's pmpos'al.
