water samples had been chlorinated. As requested by Mr. Hodek, Mr. Larson installed a
spigot on the raw water line (Figure 2, Attachement C) and turned the pump off to
deternune if the well was currently artesian. Mr. Hodek and Mr. Larson observed that the
groundwater flowed freely from the hose attached to the raw water line spigot (Figure 3,
Attachment C), thus indicating that the well was currently under artesian pressure and has
raised the groundwater about 800 feet above the top of the Dakota Sandstone to ground
level.
-Mr.-Hodek-collected a-groundwater-sample-from-the-new raw water-spigot andsubmitted
it for analysis. These results of this sample will be reported to the DMG upon receipt
from the laboratory.
n ese o serva ions a e all well; the Dakota an s one at t is ocation is
artesian. This condition would likely minimize migration of accumulated water in the C
Pit to the Dakota Sandstone, even if a hypothetical fracture existed between the C Pit and
the underlying Dakota Sandstone. This evidence suggests that it is not reasonable to
expect water from C-Pit to migrate to the Dakota Sandstone, and therefore, not necessazy
to monitor water quality in the underlying Dakota Sandstone.
A-2
