EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Savage and Savage conducted a jurisdictional wetland delineation March 29 and Apri126,
2004 within the boundaries of the Northern Colorado Constructors Inc. Pit #1 extension.
The site was evaluated for the three jurisdictional wetland criteria; hydrophytic vegetation,
hydric soils, and a hydrologic regime indicative of inundation or saturation. We concluded:
• The surface water drainage that starts the west boundary of the site and
flows across the northwest coiner of the site (feature D) originates south of
the proposed extension site and flows north into the South Platte River.
Recently, Terry McKee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers inspected the
surface water drainage, and concluded that the surface water drainage was
jurisdictional as a result of alterations to the drainage. This feature
comprises 0. i6 acres wit3rin the project azea.
• Wetland depressions A, B, C, E, and F are isolated features that are not
adjacent to or connected to a tributary systertL These isolated depressions
are located within the north portion of the site.
• Feature G is a cattail marsh wetland located at the southwest comer of the
®.-=- extension azea and is connected to the surface water drainage discussed
f~ above (feature D). The cattail marsh wetland is jurisdictional as a result of
its connection to the jurisdictional surface water drainage. The cattail
marsh wetland (mcluding the portion of the surface water drainage in this
area) comprises 2.75 acres.
• Features H and I aze surface swale drainages. These features aze not
connected to a trbibutary system and are not adjacent to a trbibutary system.
Both of the surface Swale drainages are located east of the cattail. marsh
wetland (feature G).
IIVTRODUCTION
Savage and Savage was contracted by Northern Colorado Conshuctors Inc. to delineate
the NCC Pit #1 extension that might contain waters of the United States and wetlands.
The extension site contains approximately 70 acres located within a portion of the NE'/. of
Section 24 in Township 2 North, Range 67 West of the 6`" Prime Meridian, Weld County,
Colorado. The property is bounded on the north by a fence line, east by a portion of an
o[d railroad grade and a fence tine, south by a fence line, and west by a fence Line. The
~ project site is depicted on the attached general location map.
NCC Pit St Eatrnsioa Jurisdictional Wetland Delineation and Determination Page 1
99
