<br />Bowie Resources, LLC, P.O. Box 483, Paonia, CO, 81428, has submitted a complete application
<br />for a permit revision to the Division of Minerals and Geology for its approved Bowie No. 2 Mine,
<br />mining permit No. C-96-083. The proposed revision will amend the B-Seam mine plan. A third
<br />panel is projected in the west section of the mine. The permit boundary will be expanded to
<br />encompass the entire Federal coal lease boundary and two proposed lease modification areas.
<br />The mine plan does not project mining under Terror Creek to the west.
<br />The mine facilities are located north of State Highway 1336 near the town of Bowie, CO. A pump
<br />station, three sediment ponds and unit train loadout are located south of State Highway 1336. The
<br />Fire Mountain Canal is located south of the mine facilities and north of the unit train loadout. The
<br />North Fork of the Gunnison River is located south of the mine permit boundary. The proposed
<br />mine permit area is located on the U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute Bowie Quadrangle map
<br />within the following sections.

<br />The Bowie No. 2 Mine permit area will increase 161 acres, 139 acres of private surface and 22
<br />acres of Federal surface. The new permit area will contain 5286 acres of land, 2,612 acres of
<br />private surface and 2,674 acres of Federal surface. Private minerals within the proposed permit
<br />area encompass 1957 acres with Federal minerals accounting for the balance of 3329 acres.
