ABA Four Comers Materials (formerly Durango Constmction) has applied to <br />the Colorado Mmed land Reclamation Board for permission to excavate a pond on property owned by the <br />Bryce and Thompson families. The property is !mown as the Thomas Pit Notice to you is required, as <br />your property is adjacent to the property on which the pond is to be expvated. Enclosed with this letter is <br />the required legal notice. <br />The proposed pond is to be !opted on a terrace above the river, and will incerporate Use abandoned <br />Whispering Pines waste treatment ponds, and the process water settling pond used by the former operators <br />of Ute pit The area of the proposed pond is approximately 4 acres, with approximately three acres <br />proposed to be water surface area The exposed banks would be topsoiled and seeded. Prior to the pond <br />expvation, stabilization and re vegetation of a portion of the river bank will occur. Plans for Use <br />stabilisation work are being finalized wills the Army Corps of F.ngiue~s, Division of Minerals and <br />Geology, Depamnent of Wildlife, and Ia Plata County. <br />The proposed mining activity is a one time event, to begin in Use spring of 2002, and be completed by Use <br />end of June of 2002. All material excavated from the pond would be trucked off site for processing at <br />another !option. <br />The complete applipUon package, including maps and detailed plans of the proposed excavation are <br />available at our office, the I.a Plata County Clerk's Office, and at the Division of Minerals and Geology <br />office.
