f,~
Mr. Johnson - 3 - December 14, 1987
In order to address the above concerns, revised plans must be subr~~''tted which
contain:
'~a. a plan which distributes the fill material further downstream so
that lower gradients are achieved;
•~h. revised velocity and riprap sizing calculations;
detailed riprap designs, which include the design riprap size
distribution, filter bed design and channel side slope
stabilization designs;
d~. plans for culvert removal and disposal;
v e. plans for the new (reclamation) channel crossing;
Vf. plans for salvaging all available topsoil prior to channel
reconstruction; and
~/g. reclamation details for the adjacent valley-side slopes, including
topsoil redistribution and revegetation.
Pond A Area
1. The provided reclamation cross sections (Map TR-87-12-3) for the Pond A
fiT1 area are adequate; however, it is not clear how the drainage that is
now handled by the 78 inch culvert will be accommodated after
reclamation. Please provide more detail in this area.
2. Please discuss removal and permanent disposal of the large culvert.
Other Areas
1. The revised page 780-118 indicates that reclaimed roads will not exceed
15 to 20 feet in widt5; however, the map TP.-87-12-3 "Typical Section Haul
Road Reclamation" indicates a proposed 30 ft. road width. -The reclaimed
roads should be no wider than 20 feet. Please revise the map to be
consistent with the text.
?. How will the other smaller scale fills be reclaimed?
Revised Pages
1. The revised page 780-118, second paragraph, eliminates a previous
commitment to use mulch after "seeding to a permanent seed mixture".
Also, page 780-118, third paragraph, eliminates a previous commitment to
seed and mulch after surface roughening. Why have these elements of the
reclamation been removed? Mulching and seeding are standard components
of most reclamation plans.
