Soil Remediation Report and Treatment Plan
Varra Companies, inc.
Durham Pit 117
Greeley, Colorado
February 12, 2004
maintain a pH range conducive to bioremediation of 5.5 to 8.5 crushed limestone or other agricultural soil
amendments maybe applied as needed to maintain pH levels.
Soil samples will be obtained on a monthly to bi-monthly basis to monitor hydrocazbon concentrations.
During the monitoring period, soil sampling will consist of obtaining one composite of six grab samples.
The six grab samples will be spaced to provide representative coverage across the treatment cell. Since
BTEX concentrations were below Tier 1 RBSLs in the stockpile sample, the tazget cleanup level will be
based on obtaining concentrations of TPH-DRO below 500 mg/Kg, As such samples will be analyzed for
TPH-DRO.
Six discrete grab samples will be obtained for analysis when composite sample results reach
concentrations below the target cleanup level. When TPH-DRO concentrations in each of the six grab
samples aze below 500 mg/Kg, the remediation project will be considered complete.
• The final disposition of the treated soil will be for surface cover in an inactive location on the property.
With the blended organic compost, the soil will be considered non-load bearing and not suitable for fill.
The soil will not be placed in contact with groundwater, azeas subject to flooding, neaz surface water
bodies, building foundations or in an azea accessible to the public.
• At project completion, a technical report will be prepazed documenting the soil treatment activities,
including sampling and analysis data and details on the final disposition of the treated soil.
Should you have any questions or require any additional information on this project please contact Mr. Joby
Adams or me at (800) 288-2657.
Sincerely,
CGRS, Inc.
~~-a.
Gregg Z.
