Please find enclosed a drawing which shows the detail of these
decant pipes. The drawing should be inserted into Exhibit 66 of MCC's permit with the
MB-1 design details.
III Illllllllllllfll~
999
There is currently a valved pipe that allows MCC to control the water flow between the
south cell and the north cell. However, this pipe is at an elevation such that it is pulling
water off the bottom of the pond, which tends to be less "clean" than the water at the top.
The four new pipes will also have valves to allow MCC to control the water that flows
into the north cell of MB-1, but will be placed two feet below the top of the berm to allow
water to be decanted off the top into the north cell and subsequently discharged. The
installation of these four pipes is one step in MCC's solution to better managing the mine
water.
Please call if you have any questions.
S' c r ly,
Christine E.
