If you need the "raw
data" worksheets I have kept a set.
Several items need some explanation or discussion:
1) The operator proposed rates for dirt work are reasonable and were used. The
proposed revegetation rate of 5700.00 per acre is below that the Division uses, A
rate of 5770.13/acre for steep slope areas and 5478.00/acre for areas Il;ss steep
than 3H:1 V was calculated using the Division's computer estimate program for
revegetation work.
2) The proposed seed mix did not include any shrubs or legumes. If the area to be
seeded is not 604 acres, modifications must be made in the final reclamation bond
total.
if
4) The operator proposes to cleat the seed in by tracking over the broadca:it seed with
a bulldozer. This may be effective but dragging over the seed with a metal mat or
chain or harrowing would probably be more effective and also less expensive.
Cleating does help control erosion and increase soil moisture if the cleat marks are
placed parallel to the contour lines.
for
5) The operator did not propose to fertilize. In the interest in establishing a quick
cover to control erosion a one shot application should be made. Costs for this were
