A spring planting, between <br />March 15 and May 1 is recommended. However, if this is not possible, planting <br />can be done anytime during the growing season. The seeded area should be <br />covered with a mulch of straw or native hay, at the rate of ~,OUO pounds per <br />acre. The mulch should be crimped in by use of a crimper, ar a disc sritt~ discs <br />turned straight. The following mixture is recommended: <br />• Western wheatgrass 5.5 lbs pure live seed per acre <br />Fairway crested wheatgrass 3 Lbs pure Live seed per acre <br />Yellow aweetclover 1 16 pure live seed per acre <br />If no drill is available, seed may be broadcast and covered by harrowing. When <br />shed is broadcast, the seeding rate given should be doubled. <br />Supplemental water should be applied by sprinkler. Approximately 1/4 inch- <br />of water should be applied every 1 to 4 days for 6 co 8 weeks. If precipitation <br />occurs during this period, the mnount of water applied by sprinkler can be reduced. <br />If the areas along tt~e breaks are mined for gravel, they will be reclaimed <br />by leveling to provide building.sitea. <br />• <br />
