<br />l1'ATER <br />~Illllll~ c <br />There will be little disturbance to the prevailing hydro- <br />logic balance as a result of this ongoing operation. The <br />affected lands, which have in part been mined since 1973, <br />were originally unused river bottomlands. <br />No tributary water courses, springs, stock water ponds <br />or reservoirs are located on the affected land. The Kamp-Bell <br />ditch runs along the south side of Ilighn•ay 9G pa:•allel to the . <br />• south boundary line of P.re:i 2. The ditch then crosses beneath <br />the highway at the east end oi' Area 2. It continues north and <br />east and finally northeast on a diagonal to where it crosses <br />the west end of Area 3 and returns to the river. There are <br />several places along the highway where water crosses beneath <br />the highway into a concrete ditch along the south side of <br />Area 2 (see map Exhibit C-1). Area 2 is a leased, irrigated <br />alfalfa field. Area 3, also irrigated, is a tree nursery <br />operated by a lessee, <br />Itiell i4umbers 10109 and 10910 are located in Area 2 <br />on the affected land (see map Lhhibits C and C-1). l'rell <br />Number 10909 continues to supply supplemental irrigation <br />to Area 2 as well as to an area off the affected land; the <br />irrigated area has been reduced by the 24-acre limitation <br />under Permit No. 015980-F (off the affected land); further, <br />the well identified by Permit A'o. 10410 has been affected <br />similarly by pumping water formerly used for irrigation <br />purposes directly into the Arkansas River as compensation <br />for evaporative losses off the affected land; all in <br />accordance with requirements established by the State <br />
