Long <br />Division Dneclor <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, <br />Paragraph 4, of [he Colorado Revised Sta[u[es, [hat on May 26, 1997, an application [o revise coal mining operations <br />at the Rimrock Strip Mine was considered complete for [he purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by <br />Rimrock Coal Company. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from <br />this date of filing. <br />This revision proposes to remove a stream gauge located in Engleville gulch. The operator has been unsuccessful <br />in collecting valid information from this gauge, likely due [o the low and infrequent flows in [his ephemeral drainage. <br />The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 3 miles SE of Trinidad, Colorado. The permit <br />area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of the NW I/4 of Section 29, T33S, R63W of the 6th P.M. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Trinidad East. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Las Animas County Courthouse, <br />200 E Firs[ SI Rm 104, Trinidad, CO 81082, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide <br />written comments, contact [he Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, <br />Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments <br />be submitted within fifteen (15) days of this letter.
