~ ~~~ 11111111l11u rrrr ~
July 30, 1999 esa ~~
Mr. Joe Dudash
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman St. Room 215
Denver, Co. 80203
Dear Mr. Dudash;
RECEIVED
AUG 02 !~~
Oivi~ion of Minerals & Geology
We are writing to express our concerns over BRL Permit Revision #3 and
to formally request a separate Informal Hearing as well as a Public
Heazing for nearby property owners on PR#3. In fact it might be a good
idea to arrange a tour of the proposed azea.
We feel that many of the infrastructure questions may be discussed at
the August 5, meeting but some may not be. Specifically there aze many
unresolved water quality, and protection issues that aze far from
resolved. Let's not forget the Gunnison River is "impaired" and must be
scrutinized extremely carefully for additional pollutants, and new
cumulative impacts from all the mines on the Gnnn;~con. This also
applies to Deer Creek, winch not only flows into the Gunnison, but also
is being talked about as a possible substitute for Terror Creek water.
What is the accuracy of hydrology projection vis-a-vie rainfall and
snowfall? This spring is an example of heavy downpours and any runoff
plans must be prepared for worst scenario not best case.
What plans aze there for lights, dust control, noise mitigation etc?
What are the details for ventilation and fan noise, specially?
What plans are there for conveyor mishaps?
Has DM&G analyzed this project in light of Delta County Planning
Commission's instruction to protect our Scenic Byway.
We appreciate the DM&G's adequacy review.
Faxed 7/30/99 Hard copy mailed same.
Sincerely yours, (~.F~~
Richard Rudin
Sandra Higman A /~„ ~,~ ~
CDCC '~~
