On March 4`", 2005, I conducted an onsite visit and
discussed the proposed changes in the reclamation plan with Trapper Mine staff. Mr. Forest Luke,
environmental manager, accompanied me on my visit and outlined the proposed changes.
Mr. Luke stated that twenty-five structures, currently being utilized for sediment control, were being
proposed as permanent water sources in future reclamation plans. We visited several of these ponds and
observed numerous wildlife species utilizing the water these structures currently retain. The addition and
development ofthese twenty-five structures, as reliable year round water sources, will be a benefit to
local wildlife. The Division of Wildlife has no objection to the request that these ponds remain as
pemtanent structures in the post reclamation landscape.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this proposal. If you or the project's proponents have any
questions, please do not hesitate to call me.
Sincerely,
~ ~ ~~
Trevor Balzer
District Wildlife Manager
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, RusseO George, Executive DkeIXOr
WILDLIFE COMMISSION, Ph~p Jem~, Chak .
