The rock art has been
adequately mapped, drawn, and samples of rock art paint have been collected
for dating. The rockehelter has been adequately excavated. Consultation with
the Ute and the Shoshone has been completed.
While working on site 5RT345, archaeologists discovered four rock art sites
along the same cliff ae 5RT345. This rock art has been adequately mapped,
drawn, and photographed and samples of rock art paint have been collected for
dating. Ute and Shoshone representatives were consulted regarding the rock
art.
Because necessary fieldwork has been completed at archaeological sites along
the cliff, subsidence of the cliff as a result of mining Panels 8 and 9 may
proceed prior to completion of reports on rockehelter excavation and rock art
dating.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Brian Naze at
our office in Craig (824-4441).
Sinc rely,
ohn Husband
Area Manager
