Dept. of Ir!atural Resources
Appropriate field personnel from this agency have reviewed the above-
cited application. We feel that further development of the iddustrial
site itself will have little additional impact on wildlife since this
area is already disturbed.
However the proposed reservoir and tailings pond site on Lost Creek
is elk habitat. Development of these sites will displace elk onto
other hay meadows, probably causing damage to the vegetation.
We understand that AMAX owns the ranch land and leases it back to
others for ranching. We feel that some mitigation for lost elk
habitat is appropriate. At a minimum AMAX should relieve the Division
of Wildlife of any game damage liability on their properties_
AFW:jb
cc: M.
