~ ..:_

Blue Ribbon Coal Company will reclaim [he Riparian revegetation area to
the Shrub Community standards listed above unless the Division either seta an
appropriate standard for the Riparian Co®:unity under Rule 4.15.7(2)(d)(vi) or
requires establishment of a Riparian Community reference area (see
Section 2.04.3(2)(b)(ii) of thin application).
Methods to be used for sampling of revegetated areas are:
o Cover: Total herbaceous cover will be sampled using random 1-m2
quadrats and an ocular estimation technique. Cover estimate⢠by
species rill be accomplished and rill include all herbs and shrubs
leas than 0.5 meters in height. A minimum of 30 plots per community
will be sampled and sample adequacy tested. Up to 20 additional plots
per community rill be taken as necessary to attain sample adequacy.
Shrub cover rill be estimated using the line-strip method from
randomly located 10-meter tapes. ien tapes rill be read per
community. Shrub height, in O.l~eter increments, rill be estimated
for each individual encountered by species.
o Productivity: Total herbaceous productivity will be estimated from
ly2 random quadrats by clipping live current year production at
ground level. Clipping rill be done by major species plus
miscellaneous grass, grasslikes, and forba. Clipped material will be
oven dried to eonetant veigbt and weights recorded to the nearest
0.1 gram. Data rill be reported on s lb/acre basis. A minimum of
15 plots will be eiipped in each revegetated community; sample
adequacy will be tested and additional plots clipped where necessary
to attain sample adequacy.
o Shrub Density: Total number of stems per acre rill be measured
through counting stems greater than 0.5-meter in height in
rectangular plots, 2-m z 10-m, that are randomly located. Ten shrub
density plots per revegetated community will be sampled at a minimum.
Height of each individual counted rill be recorded in 0.1-meter
ineremente by apeciea. Stem count will also be recorded by species,
11311 (Rev. 6/15/621
