NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION <br />The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology has granted a request to withdraw Technical Revision <br />Application No. 12 (TR-12) for the Lorencito Canyon Mine (Permit No. C-1996-084), submitted by <br />Lorencito Coal Company, LLC. The applicant submitted a written request for withdrawal on September <br />22, 2004 and provided no specific details regarding the reason for the withdrawal. This revision proposed <br />modification of the topsoil redistribution plan. It also requested a change of post-mining land use, from <br />irrigated pasture to industrial for the coal loadout, office area, and permanent roads. <br />The Lorencito Canyon Mine is a surface coal mine located in Las Animas County, approximately 3 miles <br />W of Segundo on Hwy 12. Coal interest is private, and the surface affected is private land. The permit <br />azea encompasses approximately 3,142 acres. <br />Persons with an interest that may be adversely affected by the withdrawal of this proposed revision to the <br />permit, or have quesfions concerning this matter, may submit them to the Colorado Division of Minerals <br />and Geology, Room 215, Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, or call <br />Kent Gorham at the Division at (303) 866-4931. <br />
