File/Adeq. Review Mt. Gunnison 21 - 2 - June 6, 1989
1. 1986 page 2-314 contains the following paragraph which has
been deleted:
"After mining has begun and mining conditions can be related
more clearly to geology, additional drilling ahead of mining
is normally considered. Monitoring underground geology as
related to mining conditions as mining progresses is
planned. This will allow continued evaluation and updating
of in{nine geologic hazard predictions. As mining
progresses, the relative importance of the various geologic
impacts on mining will be continuously evaluated."
2. In Section 3.2.7.1 .f, the discussion of the rotary breaker,
the sentence at the end of that paragraph has been deleted.
It read, "An additional crusher was permitted (See Appendix
A-10) but has not been installed." How has the situation
changed to warrant this deletion?
C. Following are adequacy issues mainly of a hydrologic nature, that
need a response as noted.
Revised page 2-531 makes reference to Figure 2.8.5 .A which
according to the new table of contents should be on page
2-532. This revised page, however, has been left
intentionally blank. Please submit another replacement page
2-532 that includes the diagram, a plot labeled "Estimated
Average Groundwater Inflows for Mt. Gunnison No. 1 Mine."
Please also update this diagram to include a plot of actual
average groundwater inflows.
Please indicate in your discussion of "Coal Reserves -
General" what areal percentage of each lease is within the
permit area, including the 35.5 acre incidental boundary
change which is a part of this revision.
WECC has changed the submittal date of the AHR to April 30 of
each year from the end of February. This change has not been
addressed in a minor revision. Please submit a revision
application if WECC wishes to make this a permanent change.
The last paragraph of page 3-32 should be updated to reflect
recent usage and include latest projections unless these have
not changes.
MSH/eke
6874E
