Dear County Commissioners:
The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology renewed Mining Permit
No. C-81-012, effective February 28, 1994, allowing coal mining and
reclamation operations at the New Elk Mine under the provisions of the
Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act of 1979. The permit was issued
to Basin Resources, Inc., 14300 Highway 12, Weston, Colorado 81091,
[phone], for their mining operation located in portions of Sections 13,
14, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 34, 35 and 36, T33S, R68W; Sections 1 and
2, T34S, R68W; Sections 30 and 31, T33S, R67W; and Section 6, T34S, R67W, in
Las Animas County.
