Pavlik
Environmental Protection Specialist
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Response to Third Preliminary Adequacy Review
Dear Ms. Pavlik:
In response to your review of TR-33 we have addressed your concerns
as stated below. Numbered items which you stated as adequate are
not shown, numbered responses correspond to your comments:
2) We have reevaluated our Mannings number and find that it is
adequate based on values listed in "Hydrology for Engineers" which
gives a Mannings value for smooth earth channels of 0.018. The
value which we are using is 0.025 which is considerably rougher
than the reference we have cited. We feel that this number is
adequate and no ditch design revision will be needed regarding the
Mannings number.
3) Ditch design on Map 80A has been modified to reflect changes in
ditch depths.
4) We have included with this submittal Sedcad runs for the road
area based on the 100 year 24 hour event. Sediment from road runoff
and the runoff itself is included in Ditch Segment 7 and is
included in the pond storage capacity runs.
5) We are aware that any culvert will have to be approved prior to
installation. when we have determined the pit to pit road's exact
location we will submit that information.
7) Spillway design criteria is shown on map SOA.
8) Permanent diversions will be installed prior to activating the
refuse area.
Ikserado Mine
P.O.
