There was a discrepancy between the permit <br />acreages listed on the recent amendment application and the acreage listed as remaining in the <br />DRMS files. -The following information is being submitted on behalf of our client, Weld <br />County, for the Hokestra Pit (M-80-149) in Weld County, Colorado. The site is located in <br />Sections 2 and 23, Township 2 and 3 North, Range 68 West, 6th Prime Meridian, Weld County, <br />Colorado. The general location of this operation is less than one mile north of Firestone, <br />Colorado. <br />The Hokestra site has undergone many phases of mining and development. Weld County <br />applied for a mining and reclamation permit (M-1980-149) in July of 1980. The permit listed the <br />acreage as 239.861. In 1993, an amendment added 170 acres to the existing acreage. This azea <br />is referred to as Hokestra West. This area makes up the majority of the currently permitted azea. <br />Releases through amendment or release requests occurred in 1997 (77.6 acres), 2000 (10.6) and <br />2002 (5.9). The acreage according to the DRMS files is 340.6. The County believes the acreage <br />is closer to 170 acres. It was therefore decided by all parties to determine the acreage that the <br />County currently operates under the permit and to request an acreage reduction to this amount. <br />The County collected the deeds to the properties that aze currently permitted with the DRMS as <br />the Hokestra sand and gravel operation and the acreage adds up to approximately 200 acres. We <br />therefore request an acreage reduction request with the following items: <br />• Recognize that the area currently mined under the Weld County permit is approximately <br />200 acres. <br />• Release the 4.1 acres of lake and shoreline surrounding the lake in front of the Weld <br />County Services building.
