Cottony <br /> Acting Division Director <br />Re: Chimney Rock Mine (Permit No. C-1981-023) <br />Permit Renewal Application No. 4 (RN-4) <br />Dear Archuleta County Commissioners: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, <br />Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on August 20, 2002, an application to renew an existing permit <br />to conduct coal mining operations at Chimney Rock Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All <br />review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate <br />from this date of filing. <br />Kaiser Ventures, Inc. proposes to continue Surface coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land located <br />approximately 22 miles west of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. The pertnit area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Section 30, T34N, R4W, NMPM. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Chimney Rock. <br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the Archuleta County Courthouse, Box <br />1507, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147.
