Box 483
Paonia, CO 81428
RE: Minor Revision 19 for Bowie Resources Bowie No. 2 Mine - Permit C-96-083
Dear Mr. Hunt:
We have reviewed your request to construct [he drill pads Geo-TCFl-01 - 03 on Stevens Draw road
on Coal Lease COC61209 in T13S R91 W in the NF,NENW of section 9. We understand the purpose
of drilling these holes is to determine the vertical offset of the D seam on this west side of a fault and
the cxtcnt of an apparent sand channel that has "scoured out" the seam. The area was surveyed for
cultural resources and no sites wertr found at the proposed drill sites or access roads. No wildlife
surveys are needed.
BLM also understands that the access road at the drill hole sites will likely be blocked during the
actual drilling, because the locations are in a narrow draw, and pad construction would be
minimized. BLM expects the road to be returned to the status and use it had before drilling, and that
once the holes are plugged, no longer needed for monitoring, any permitted pad construction will
be reclaimed.
You are authorized to drill the holes as described above. Subsequent to drilling, all geologic and
coal quality data derived from the holes shall be submitted to the BLM .Please contact Lynn Lewis
(970) 240-5305 or Desty Dyer at (970) 240-5302 if you have any questions.
Sincerely yours,
Allan J.
