No plans aze
currently underway to enter i~o this type of opetatioq so it is not necessary to attempt a
design at this time. Please use the following as answers to the other questions in your
request:
3. Temporary stockpiles are only created adjacent to the screening activities on
an "as-needed basis" when orders are received for material. These are not in
the stream channel, but a continuation of the Corps of Engineers 404 permit
has been requested, and is presently in the review process.
4. The berm between the Phase I and the originally proposed Phase II areas
would be breached neaz the south end of the permit area, to split the river and
allow a portion to flow into the mined area. The amount of material necessary
to replace this was estimated at 20 cu.yd. in the 404 permit application, In
regards to the required riprap material for areas along the west side of the
Phase I area, it is estimated that 50 cu.yd. of material will be needed to fill in
each of the two roadway areas. This is to be done with afront-end loader,
using the "oversize" material from the screening operatioq which is
comiaually being added to other locations on this berm. There is excess
material all along this berm so it can be used without compromising its
imegrity.
This is the only work that will be required to return the disturbed areas into the
same conditions that have historically existed adjacem to the Uncompahgre River, from
Ouray to Ridgway.
erely,
o~Larson `~-
Cert.Prof.Geol.4682
