Lonti <br />Dinsion D~.ector <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 1 l8, <br />Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on July 17, 1997, an application to renew an existing permit to <br />conduct coal mining operations at the Roadside Portals was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All <br />review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />The applicant proposes to continue underground coal mining andlor reclamation operations on land located <br />approximately 5 miles north of Palisade. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />TIOS, R98W, 6th P.M.; Sections 20, 21, 22.23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34 and 35 <br />T11S, R98W, 6th P.M.; Sections 1, 2, 11, ]2, 13 and 14 <br />Tl IS, R97W, 6th P.M.; Sections b, 7 an d 18 <br />T1S, R2E, Ute P.M.; Section 1 <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Cameo and Palisade Quadrangle maps. <br />This application is for successive renewal of a currently permitted operation. The application does not propose any <br />changes to the existing permit, but would allow operations to continue within the previously permitted area for an <br />additional 5 year permit term. <br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the Mesa County Courthouse, 544 Rood Ave., <br />Grand Junction, CO 81501, and at the Division office.
