P~:ul ~ Margaret Craven
11466 WCR #8
PO Box 856
Ft. Lupton, Co 80621
Lafarge West, Inc
Western U.S. Region
Attn: General Manager
10170 Church Ranch Way
Suite 200
Westminster, Co 80021
., L',C~ ~ ~~C~ v
February 15, 2005
R~c~~V~.~
F'fgy3~5
Division ofMinera/s and GeoloBY

O:iVer~.,,.Q G
Dear Mr. Smith, fNa-a-oD -pl(, ~-W10'
We have relished our little slice of heaven for eleven
years.lt is our hope to spend the duration here.
However, we have many concerns we must share with you.
- What is an acceptable noise level? How will you maintain
that level?
- Are there plans to accomodate the increase in traffic
and mitigate the dust and air pollution caused by said traffic
and construction equipment; or maintain an already beleaguered
road 8?
- Will there be a fuel station? If so, where will it be
located? What prevention measures are in place to prevent ground
and water contamination? What security measures exist that will
prevent theft or sabotage?
- What is the time line for th Riverhen operation? Specifically,
operations that occur within close proximity to this property.
- According to a survey provided us upon purchase of our home
our east side property line is seventeen feet east of the
existing fence line. This has provided the neighbor's cattle a
route to pasture. We wish to reestablish that property line.
- What is your solution to mitigate water table fluctuation
and changes in well depth or wetland water supply? Aalf of our
property is a wetland that is home to countless birds, mammals and
amphibians. Even minor changes to this ecosystem would have a
drastic effect on the wild life that we hold dear and enjoy so
much. That pond and pasture you will be mining has been home to
thousands of frogs and toads; blue herons, geese, pelicans hawks
kingfishers migrating bald eagles and other species too
numerous to name. These will be lost to us .curing your operation.
The nightly summer symphony of croakers and peepers will be silent.
When all is said and done, how will the reclamation restore the
wildlife? Will there be a body of water nearby to enjoy?
What will you propose as compensation to offset the anticipated
decline in property value?
_ ~- ~
