Rationale for Recommendation For Approval Over Objections A 112 DNIO Nletal Mining Permit Amendment Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mining Company Cresson Project NI-80-244 On July 26, 2000 the Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG or Division) issued its recommendation for approval of Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company's (CC&VG) Cresson Project Amendment No. 8 application, over objections. This document is intended to explain why the DMG was able to recommend approval over the various concerns and reasons submitted as objections to approval. CC&V's Cresson Project Amendment No. 8 Application was found complete on March 27, 2000. The Amendment proposes to mine gold and silver ore and leach it using cyanide in a valley-type operation located 2.0 miles southeast of Cripple Creek, Colorado, and 1-~/a miles north of Victor, Colorado. The Amendment also proposes to expand the permit azea from 4232.11 acres to 5847. Approximately 4200 acres have the potentia] to be disturbed.
