Mountain Coal Company (MCC),

929-5015, has submitted a complete
application for a technical revision of
Reclamation and Mining Permit No. C-80-007
to the Colorado Division of Minerals and
Geology, Office of Mined Land Reclamation
(OMLR), 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215,
Denver, CO 80203 [phone]. The
technical revision is to increase the annual coal
production to 8.2 million tons per year from the
West Elk Mine.
The curent permit area of the West Elk Mine
is N Delta and Gunnison Counties,
approximately one mile east of Somerset,
Colorado, and is generally described as
follows: Sections 23 to 26, Township l3
South, Range 91 West; and Sections 9,10, IS
to 23, 26 to 30, 34 and 35, Township 13 South,
Range 90 West of the 6th P.M.; containing
approximately 5,540 acres. This area is located
on the USGS 7.5 minute Somerset and Bowie
quadrangle topographic maps.
