CO 80203
RE: Minor Revision No. 245 (Revision to Access Route in MR#244);
West Elk Mine; Permit No. C-80-007
Dear Jim:
As we discussed during your June field inspection and again on the telephone July
l~', MCC proposes to revise the access route to drill hole 98-56 presented and
approved in Minor Revision No. 244. Please find enclosed a minor revision
application for this change and a map that shows the location of the new access
route.
The access route in MR#244 included a stream crossing, which has been eliminated
with this new access. The new road will be approximately 450 feet long and 12 feet
wide. The terrain is flat; therefore, no earthwork will be needed. Brush will be
crushed and no topsoil will be removed, which will reduce our impact in the area.
This new access route also reduces the amount of disturbance, as compared to the
amount of disturbance that would have been required to construct the stream
crossing for the previous access.
MCC would appreciate the Division's immediate review of this application, as MCC
intends to begin establishing the access routes on July 6, 1998. Please call if you
have any questions.
Christine E. J
Permitting Sp
cc: Eric Mende
Chris Nyikos
Phil Schmidt
Kathy Welt
mrz4s.aoo
