PUBLIC NOTICE <br />Bear Coal Company, Inc., P.O. Box 518, Somerset, CO, 81434, has submitted an application for the <br />renewal of a valid, existing permit to conduct coal mining in Colorado to the Division of Minerals and <br />Geology, for its mining permit No. C-81-033. <br />The Bear No. 3 Mine is located immediately south and east of the town of Somerset, CO. The North <br />Fork of the Gunnison River is located north of the Mme. The mine permit area is located on the U. S. <br />Geological Survey 7.5 minute Somerset Quadrangle map within the following sections. <br />Township 13 South, Range 90 West, 6th P.M. <br />Section 8: S'/:SE'/, South of the River <br />Section 9: All South of the River <br />Section 15: W'/:NW'/,, W'/zSW'/. <br />Section 16: All <br />Section ] 7: All except portions of the N'/:NW'/. and portions of the NW'/+NE'/. <br />Section 18: SE'hSE'/a, NE'/,SE'/a, SE'/,NE'h <br />Section 20: NW'/,, NE'h <br />Section 21: N''/xNE'h, N%aNW'/,, SW'hNW'/, <br />The permit azea encompasses approximately 1894 acres. The surface of the permit area is owned by <br />Beaz Coal Company, Atlantic Richfield Company, Larry and Elaine Mautz, and the U. S. Government <br />which owns ] 31 acres of the permitted land th Section 21. <br />A copy of the application is available for public inspection at the Delta County Clerk and Recorder's <br />office, 5th and Palmer, Delta CO, and at the offices of the Division of Minerals and Geology, 1313 <br />Sherman St., Room 215, Denver, CO, 80203, (303) 866-3567.
