The two vegetation communities on the primary terrace closest to the Cache la
Poudre River were divided into relatively distinct mesic and hydrophytic
associations. Mesic species included dandelion, mustazds, clover, musk thistle,
mallow, and western wheatgrass. Hydrophytic species included Baltic rush, spike
rush, Nebraska sedge, water sedge, saltgrass, buttercup, clover, curly dock,
dandelion, rabbitfootgrass, orchazdgrass, and tine. The secondary terrace has
been planted to row crops. There are no shrub or overstory layers present on the
site. (Figure 2)
For the above reason we request a disqualification of this site for further consideration as
Preble's habitat and exclude the site from the trapping requirements. If you have any
questions, or we can provide additional supporting information regarding this
disqualification request for the Zapus hudsonius preblei for the proposed Hall-Irwin
Corporation's Long Resource site, please contact us.
Sincerely,
~~~
Edith Savage
Principal
~~..v c.,C C..
c: Jeff Crregg, Hall-Irwin Corporation
Sazah Foster, Civil Resources
attachments: Figure 1 -bong Resource Site Location Map
Figure 2 -Panoramic View of Long Resource Project Site (left of road)
and Cache 1a Poudre River Primary Terrace (right of road) (July 31, 2007)
Zapus hudsaniuspreblei Disctualification Reque6t Page 2
Hall-Irwin Corporation - Long kesourte
