UPLAND GRAVEL PIT NO. 1
EXHIBIT H
Wildlife Information
Game animals which occasionally travel through the site are mule deer, antelope, black bear,
mountain lion. Cottontail rabbits occupy the site year round.
Non-game species which have been observed on or near the site are ground squirrels, skunks,
racoons, coyotes and a variety of small birds. Some hawks and eagles have also been
observed.
There are no known endangered species in the vicinity of the application area.
The affected area of this proposed conversion contains approximately 20.43 acres. The
general effect during the operation is reduced forage available to the wildlife. Presence of larger
mammals have been reduced by perimeter fencing of BLM property installed prior to mining
resulting in very little effect caused by the increased human activity and noise. Habitat for
burrowing rodents will be temporarily lost during the mining activity. The site is expected to be
reclaimed to provide food and habitat to the wildlife in equal or better quantities than existed
prior to mining.
