i "; <br />I~ <br />NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION <br />The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology proposes to approve an application to <br />renew a valid, existing permit to conduct coal mining and reclamation operations submitted <br />by the Walden Coal Company for the Bourg Strip Mine. The mine is not active and the <br />permit is for reclamation only. <br />The Bourg Strip operation is located in Jackson County, approximately 7 miles northeast of <br />Walden, Colorado. The Surface and coal are privately owned. <br />The permit area encompasses approximately 160 acres in: <br />S 1/2, SEl/4 Section 7 and N1 f2, NEl/4 Section 18, R9N, R78W, Jackson <br />County, Colorado <br />This proposed decision to approve the renewal is based on a finding that the proposed <br />operation will comply with all requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining <br />Reclamation Act, C.R.S. 34-33-101, et seq., and the regulations promulgated thereunder. <br />Copies of the proposed decision including stipulation, are on file for public inspection at <br />the office of Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology ((303)866-3567), Room 215, <br />Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, and at the County <br />Clerk's Office in Jackson County, Box 337, Walden Colorado. Persons with an interest that <br />may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may request a formal hearing before <br />the Mined Land Reclamation Board on the proposed decision. Such requests must be <br />made in writing within thirty (30) days of the initial publication of this notice, must be in <br />writing, and must state with reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and the <br />objections to the proposed decision. <br />Questions concerning the renewal can be referred to Randy Price at the Division, address <br />and telephone number listed above. <br />
